Sometimes those great dives are just a bit deeper than you have the training and experience for. Whether it's to explore the guns of a deep wreck lying on the seabed, or the rare corals on a deep wall, the PADI Deep Diver Specialty provides you with the knowledge and skills to plan your deep diving. Experience the thrill of diving to 40 metres, all under the watchful eye of your PADI professional instructor.
As you to start to extend the depth of your dives you'll notice how short the time is that you can spend there. Primarily caused by the amount of nitrogen you're breathing, the way to extend your 'No Stop Limits' is to use an oxygen rich breathing gas. The PADI Enriched Air Diver Specialty equips you with the skills and knowledge to safely plan and execute dives with up to 40% oxygen.

Learning to dive could not be easier with the PADI Open Water Diver course. This is the foundation diving course that has been developed over decades, and allows practically anybody to become a safe, knowledgeable and confident diver. The instructional format of this course allows a seamless transition from complete novice to qualified diver, and with the help, guidance and knowledge of your Active Andalus Instructor, you’ll finish your course knowing you’ve been trained to a very high standard.
So how does the course work? The PADI Open Water Course is split into three components; knowledge development, skills training and practice, and finally application of the knowledge and skills in the open sea, which can be carried out over four days.
Gaining the Knowledge.
Included in the course is a comprehensive and very informative manual (available in both print or digitally), that introduces you to the all of the important concepts of diving, along with the equipment you’ll be using, a description of the skills, dive planning and much, much more. You work your way through this, completing the small quizzes and knowledge reviews, and then complete a final exam.
Gaining the skills.
Diving is made easy by having the skills and knowing when to use them. We’re going to show you all of the key skills, giving you a description of each skill, followed then by a demonstration of each skill by your instructor (above and below the water), and then finally you’ll have chance to practice the skill and show that you have mastered it. The skills development session is more than the sum of its parts as you’ll start to develop a routine of safe and efficient equipment assembly, safety checks, dive planning and adherence to the ‘Buddy System’. This training is carried out in a swimming pool where the focus is on learning the skill in a safe and benign environment.
Gaining the experience.
Putting the previously acquired skills and knowledge into practice you’ll conduct four dives in the open sea. Each dive allows you time to explore our local environment, and to further demonstrate proficiency of your diving skills. Of importance now is the ability to think about your dive plan, work as a ‘Buddy Team’, show good control of your buoyancy and that you can demonstrate your competency underwater. With each dive your confidence grows and by the fourth and final dive you would have earned your PADI Open Water Diver certificate!
Active Andalus offers a comprehensive course that includes everything you’ll need including –
• Full equipment for diving including wetsuit, BCD, regulator set, air/EANx dive computer, cylinders, hood, gloves, boots, fins, mask and weight system
• Choice of learning options that include printed manual or digital media (guide here)
• PADI Divers Logbook
• Certification upon successful completion of the course
And to maximise your enjoyment and safety you’ll never find more than two students per instructor!
How can you start? You’ll need to be at least 14 years of age, have a medical form signed by your doctor, make sure you’re happy with our terms & conditions , and then you can check out the costs and booking procedures here.
You can book just the course for €450 or alternatively enjoy a fully inclusive diving holiday from just €799
If you haven’t been diving lately, and you want to book onto one of great diving courses, but you need to update and refresh your dive skills and knowledge, then the PADI ReActivate™ program is the perfect way to achieve this.
Whether you need a few reminders or need to go back over the basics, we can personalise this course exactly to your requirements.
The great thing about the ReActivate™ program is that you can conveniently review scuba concepts on your tablet, mobile device or computer at home, immersing yourself in dive scenarios and making decisions that test your understanding of important dive safety concepts, dive planning essentials and problem management. Move through ReActivate™ at your own pace and delve deeper into topics when you need or want to.
You can complete this before your arrival, and once here we’ll complete your ReActivate™ water skills session.
Within this skills session we’ll demonstrate and ask you to repeat -
• Remove, replace and clear the mask
• Become neutrally buoyant and hover
• At the surface in water too deep in which to stand, with a deflated BCD, use the weight system’s quick release to pull clear and drop sufficient weight to become positively buoyant
• Ascend properly using an alternate air source and establish positive buoyancy at the surface. Act as both donor and receiver.
You’ll also have time to perform and practice any skills that you feel need more training on.
The ReActivate™ program is offered as part of a diving holiday here at Active Andalus. Within this we will provide you with –
• ELearning access for tablet, mobile device or computer
• Knowledge development session prior to in-water skills session
• Confined water skills session (minimum 30 minutes) prior to the start of your main diving holiday
The PADI Reactivate program costs €70 and requires half of a day, and will normally be the first course of your holiday.

PADI Specialty Courses
There is more to diving just than diving! As you continue your journey in diving you’ll start to see that there is much more fun to be had under the water, and that you can also learn new skills that greatly enhance your safety. Specialty courses are a great way to compliment your recreational diving, giving you a structured introduction to specific skills, techniques and environments, and having fun at the same time! Take a look at the interesting courses we offer.

PADI Technical Diving CoursesTechnical diving takes you beyond the limits of recreational diving, and gives the excitement and adventure of exploring places very few divers have been. Technical diving stands out from recreational diving as it allows you to incur decompression, and use equipment and methodologies that reduce the risks associated with decompression diving.
The PADI TecRec courses are structured logically, and were designed and developed in the same demanding way that you come to expect from the PADI organisation.
Within the courses you’ll be introduced to the equipment you’ll use for technical diving, new skills and procedures, and how to plan a decompression dive using different breathing gases. In technical diving the surface is often inaccessible in an emergency, so Tec divers use extensive procedures, equipment and training to manage the added risks and potential hazards.
The PADI TEC 40 course is the first step in the TecRec system, and introduces you to limited decompression diving with a wide margin of safety. The TEC 45 and TEC 50 courses further develop your learning, where eventually you’ll be qualified to make a ‘two gas’ switch multistop decompression dive. For more information, take a look at our TecRec courses.
TEC BASICS TEC 40 TEC 45 TEC 50
Is technical diving for you? Technical diving should not be looked upon as a natural progression to your diving, as many divers enjoy a lifetime of diving without leaving recreational limits. Technical diving exposes you to additional risks and hazards that may be unacceptable to you, but if you’re willing to accept these, then a whole new world of adventure and challenges await you!
Continuing your diving education
As a qualified diver you could be thinking of what new skills and experiences you can learn, those that will make your diving more fun, exciting and safe. Maybe you want to have a taste of deeper diving, or experience diving at night, or try your first dive from a boat. You could be ready to take the next step of becoming a rescue diver, and be there to provide help and assistance to your fellow divers.
As with all of our 'core' courses you´ll find we offer you some of the best instruction you can receive. And with our personalised courses, where the focus is on expanding your base of skills in an unhurried and relaxed atmosphere, you´ll complete your course a more confident and experienced diver.
Active Andalus offer fun, exciting and educational courses that takes you to the next level of diver education. Take a look at our PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course and the PADI Rescue Diver course, and see how we can improve your diving in a fun and informative way.
All of our diving courses are fully inclusive of accommodation food and transportation, and prices start from only €352 per person for the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver, and €323 per person for the PADI Rescue Diver (based on two sharing).
