Tajo de Gomer Walk

Tajo de Gomer

A walk around the Tajo de Gomer – 14 kms 5/6 hours

Prices €15 to €20 per person

alfarnatejo3This gentle walk starts in the small village of Alfarnatejo, and then crosses the municipal boundary into Riogordo. Along the way we'll pass to the west and south of the ‘Tajo de Alta’ (High Gorges) mountains; these spectacular mountains rise abruptly to form three distinct and impressive peaks (Fraile 1229 mtrs, Gomer 1129 mtrs & Dona Ana 1163 mtrs). Our walk will take us west across the north of this range, and then east across its' southern flank. We finish the walk in a small village, where a cold drink and tapas awaits us!
Highlights along this walk include the views to Chamizo, the impressive west face of Tajo de Gomer, and the varied flora. We may also get chance to see some of the migrating eagles soaring high on the rock faces.

alfarnatejo4Conditions on the walk.
We’ll be following a well-defined route that is a mix of road, track and footpath. We’ll encounter sections of loose and/or large stones, so some care is required. In the very rare instance of rain, parts of the path may be muddy for a few days after. We're heading downhill, but there are sections which do ascend.
