Looking back on the Watchtowers Walk

Delightful Coastal Walks

Take a more extended look at the villages, towns, and mountains of the Axarquia region, east of the city of Malaga.

During this week, we will spend more time in the beautiful Sierra de Almijara Natural Park exploring the mountain ridges and rivers that run down to the coast, as well as visiting the Maro/Cerro Gordo Natural Park, and no visit to Axarquia is complete without the walk to the Moorish hilltop village of Comares.

How difficult?

If you are a regular walker, there should be nothing challenging on any of these walks. The walks are rated easy/moderate, with sections that may be steep and include some rough terrain underfoot.

When we set out each day, our walks are between 12 and 16 kilometres, with approximately 550 to 650 metres of ascent.

When to come

This holiday is available from January to May and then from September to December. The weather is generally consistent in those months, but both in May and September, the temperature can be near 30 degrees.

Are you unsure of when to come, or do you have preferred dates? Please look at our available dates; we have a wide range throughout the year.

Our photo album has great pictures from this walking week, and you can read our blog article to learn more about what you will see on the walks.
