The town's location along this beautiful stretch of the coast, where the ridges and gorges of Sierra de Almijara meet the sea, creating a series of coves and cliffs, is the perfect place to unwind after walking.
One of the prominent features is the Balcon de Europa, a large promenade that gently protrudes out high above the sea and is next to the Hotel Marissal.
This Hotel has 22 rooms, all en-suite (shower only), with air conditioning, a small balcony, and a television.
The stay here includes a buffet-style breakfast of cold meats and cheeses, bread, fruit and yoghurt, and hot drinks.
The Hotel has a restaurant with a very impressive menu, but as you are in the middle of the town, you have a great choice of bars and restaurants offering different styles of food within a short distance.
The A7 motorway is north of the town, allowing a quick transfer time of 50 minutes to both Malaga Airport and The Hotel Arco del Sol, which we use for the first part of the AxarTrail.

The hotel is located on the Balcon de Europa and has a covered seating area adjacent to the promenade. Enjoy your breakfast, or evening meal, with the backdrop of the mountains and beaches of the Maro Natural Park.
Inside the Hotel
The hotel has a rustic and comfortable restaurant serving a great range of food. There is a small and cosy bar, which doubles as the breakfast bar for those mornings when it is a tad chilly to sit outside.
Rejuvenate at the end of the day
The rooms offer a welcome rest after the day spent on the trails in the Sierra de Almijara. All en-suite, with a spacious shower and air conditioning, you can freshen up and be ready to explore Nerja's old town at night.
